My Old Kentucky Home: Downtown Lexington

It has been so fun having Alex at home with me this past weekend. It was a few first for him – his first time in Kentucky and his first time meeting my parents! On Saturday, we toured downtown Lexington. It’s been incredible to see how much the city had grown and modernized since I left in 2008 for college. Our first stop was Coffee Times for a dose of caffeine and fun. Half coffee shop, half java-lovers’ gift paradise, it’s a quaint little place on the way downtown. Adjacent to Coffee Times is my favorite vintage shop, Street Scene. There I picked up a gorgeous navy blue coat and some festive earrings. Next I took Alex to my favorite funky shop, ThirdStreet Stuff for and art. Full of bright color and cheeky art, I always love coming here for a bite to eat. We parked and walked around the heart of Downtown, Triangle Park, where an ice-skating rink is set up for the season. We sat and watched kids and parents zoom around the little rink as Christmas songs played in the background. It was a bummer brining Alex to the airport yesterday, but I’m so glad he was able to come down South to see firsthand my roots and meet my loving parents. Until New Year!
