A lot of you guys have been asking me about my skin on Snapchat & Instagram so I wanted to share my incredible experience at Schweiger Dermatology in Manhattan. I’ve struggled with my skin for many years. In high school and early college I dealt with cystic acne that really affected my self-esteem. In 2011 I went on accutane, which was the best decision I ever made for my skin (more about it here). After a few years, however, I started to see the hormonal acne come back. It was never as bad as it was pre-accutane but it still bothered me. I’ve found a good skincare regime that works for me but I still have acne scarring and deal with the occasional breakout.
When Schweiger Dermatology offered to have me come in to try the Laser Genesis treatment I was thrilled! The non-abrasive procedure helps reduce large pores, fine lines and acne scarring and hyper pigmentation. The experience at Schweiger Dermatology was incredible. I went with my friend Noelle (see her experience here) and we were given the dream team; two twin PAs nicknamed the ‘Derm Duo.’ They were incredibly patient, kind and informative about the treatment and answered all of our (about a million) questions.
To start the procedure they gently cleanse the skin. Next you put on some very sexy goggles to protect your eyes from the laser’s light. Then they use the laser across the skin in slow strokes. It is hot but not uncomfortable, similar to standing by a bonfire. In areas with more pigmentation they pass over the area several times which can have a slight sting but nothing painful. It’s such a quick and easy process with no downtime. The laser works by stimulating new skin cell growth and collagen production which smoothes fine lines, shrinks pore size and fades scarring.
After my skin looked so fresh and glowy! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a fresh, healthy glow. I’m interested in going back to learn about other skin treatments in the future and if you live in the NYC area I can’t recommend Schweiger & especially the Derm Duo enough!
