A few weeks back I got an email from the folks at the
Marriott asking if I would be interested in checking out their Downtown
Brooklyn hotel for a little weekend staycation. I’ve never actually done a
‘staycation’ before but the idea intrigued me so I asked Gerhard and he was
totally on board. Honestly, it was one of my favorite weekends of the whole
year. If you could use a ‘staycation’ now is the perfect time as Marriott is
offering 20% off when you book in advance with their Advance
Purchase Promotion! As for the Downtown Brooklyn property, the hotel is
stunning; it has been newly renovated with incredibly sleek, modern guestrooms.
Our suite had a lovely little terrace with views over Brooklyn and Manhattan!
Every morning I’d drink a cup of coffee on the balcony. Being away from our
apartments really gave Gerhard and I a chance to reconnect without the stress
and distractions of actually being at home. We didn’t feel the need to run
errands or clean up – we had a chance to enjoy just being together. And, as
strange as it may sound, on the weekends we don’t usually leave our
neighborhood in Brooklyn. The staycation gave us the opportunity to try explore
a different area, try new restaurants and enjoy the beauty of Brooklyn. The
hotel featured some of our favorite local vendors including Brooklyn Roasting
Company, one of my favorite coffee companies. I really liked that they brought
Brooklyn’s great energy into the hotel. We also loved the M Club lounge where
we could relax and recharge with snacks, drinks and free premium WiFi. The best
part, in my opinion, was the location. Downtown Brooklyn is such a vibrant area
and we really took advantage of the neighborhood. We even filmed our favorite
