Dressing Taller for Petites with Macy’s

Many times when people who follow my blog or Instagram come
up to say hi they are most surprised by how short I am. Standing only 5’2″
I definitely fall into the petite category! Growing up I always wanted to grow
tall like my dad and sister but as I’ve grown up I’ve come to love my small
frame.

Dressing petite, however, isn’t always easy. I teamed up
with Macy’s to showcase some of the best trends for petites and a few general
tips and tricks for looking fabulous under 5’4″. Macy’s has such a wide
selection of clothes specifically tailored for petites so they fit better and
are more flattering! Hems, straps and sleeve lengths are shorter and provide a
better overall fit.
In terms of advice for dressing a petite frame, my first
rule is tuck it in! Tucking in your shirt automatically elongates the legs creating the illusion of being taller. This tip really
changed things for me and now you’ll always see me with a tucked-in top. I love
this INC International Concepts blouse from Macy’s in a rich burgundy with a bold triangle pattern.
The cut-out
shoulder is very on-trend and makes the top a perfect transition
piece into fall. I paired it with mid-rise Style & Co jeans with zipper detailing. These
help balance my wider shoulder by drawing the eyes across the hips. A dark
denim i
s universally flattering and helps add length for us shorter sisters. I
always recommend mid to high rise jeans in a dark wash for petites. As for the
shoes, there’s certainly no denying that heels add height! I like these black
round toe
Mary Janes because they go with everything. They pair especially well
with a darker bottom to continue the look of a lo
ng line on the legs.
For the second look I paired a white tie-blouse from Alfani with a
petite perfect trend for fall – the A-line skirt by
INC International ConceptsThis style creates a
flattering silhouette that highlights the waist and draws the eye down. It is
especially flattering for petites when it hits a few inches above the knee
creating a long leg line. To
further the look of long legs I added this pair of
pale pink suede platforms. They are a bit of a throwback to the seventies and I
love the color! I hope you guys like these tips for dressing petite – see more tips on the Macy’s Petite Fit Guide.
